a gentleman's essential basics

Sober, well-cut and fitted, these few basics will be the cornerstone of your wardrobe, allowing you to create an outfit around them.

The first basic to buy is a white t-shirt. But beware: a well-cut white t-shirt that suits your body type is not easy to find! Choose a t-shirt with a round collar, one that won't mold your tummy and whose sleeves stop at the biceps.

Next comes the shirt. Fundamental to any man's wardrobe, it must be chosen intelligently. A collar in proportion to your face, seams that follow the contours of your shoulders, a beautiful fall of the back... these are all criteria you need to respect when choosing your shirt. Here again, prefer white for easy pairing.

For warmth, don't forget a little knitwear! Knitwear refers to all knitted items, including sweaters and cardigans. Choose natural materials that keep you warm and sweat-free.

When it comes to bottoms, get yourself a pair of straight, raw denim jeans: solid and durable, they're a timeless choice for men.

When it comes to pants, the chino and the suit pantlon are a safe bet. More formal than jeans, chinos are often worn in summer, as they are very light and can be worn either dressy or casual. Suit pants, on the other hand, are thicker and more suitable for special occasions, even if they can easily be turned into casual wear these days.

If these items are not yet part of your wardrobe, a day of shopping is in order!
