On September 8, the LOBBY Forum dedicated to family businesses was held in the renovated and prestigious Hôtel de Merode.

To fully understand the concept of family business, there's nothing like listening to the stories of the men and women who fight in the field to defend their assets. Four companies in 4 different sectors werethus scanned: wine with Jean-Gabriel De Coninck and Maison De Coninck, finance with Victor Zwart and Wealtheon, construction with Alexandre De Cesco and Socatra, and the press with Thierry Misson and L'Eventail.
Experts then took the floorto identify new avenues for family governance. Five specialists (including three women) addressedthe strategic and practical issues surrounding family businesses. The notion of transmission is, for example, fundamental to any family business. It is part of the broader framework of family governance. Two bankers, Gilles Staquet (Deutsche Bank) and Carol Liesenberg (BNP Paribas Fortis), a consultant, Hélène Rouvez (Deloitte), a family office manager, Thomas de Wouters d'Oplinter (Umani) and a doctoral student, Raphaëlle Mattart (HEC/Liège).
