Linking Knokke to Brussels in an electric golf cart... Cédric Lescut and Silas Van Droogenbroeck's crazy new challenge!

Brussels, September 5, 2022 - A few years ago, he was playing golf on top of the Atomium's highest ball... There's no doubt that Cédric Lescut, 43, professional sportsman, amputee and President of the non-profit organization ANDROID 34, whose mission is to provide amputee children with sports prostheses, is a fan of thrills and crazy bets! This time, with his friend Silas Van Droogenbroeck, 31, entrepreneur and manager of Niagara Cars, he has decided to link the Belgian coast to Brussels in an electric buggy. This new eco-mobile challenge will take place on September 14, in aid of Cédric's non-profit organization. With this challenge, the two friends intend to deconstruct preconceived ideas about electro-mobility and show that mobility is in the throes of change: "We have to change our habits if we want to guarantee a serene future for generations to come", Silas stresses.

It was in a joking tone that this new adventure was decided upon... "What if we linked Knokke and Brussels by electric buggy? Let's drive from Knokke to Brussels in an electric cart". As the two friends are always ready to take on the craziest challenges, they set about organizing the trip, which they estimated would take 12 hours. The electric buggy (see photo), which is fully road-legal, is fitted with the latest lithium battery, enabling it to travel 120 km at a maximum speed of 30 km/h.

They will set off from Knokke on Wednesday September 14 at 5:30 a.m., arriving in front of the Royal Palace at around 5:30 p.m.. They will be welcomed by Elke Van den Branden, Brussels Minister for Mobility, Rudi Vervoort, Minister-President of the Brussels Region, in charge of disabilities, and Philippe Close, Mayor of Brussels.

Challenge to benefit Android 34

Behind this challenge, of course, lies a buzz action in support of the ANDROID 34 non-profit organization, founded by Cédric Lescut, whose aim is to help children with amputated or impaired upper and/or lower limbs, by providing them free of charge with high-quality prosthetic equipment that will enable them to practice their favorite sport. Through the Octopus 34 project, the association has already equipped 40 children. By taking part in crazy challenges, Cédric aims to show these children that anything is possible. "We must never give up. It doesn't matter how hard things are. You can always come out stronger," he likes to repeat.

The Niagara Cars electric buggy, which will be totally revamped in Smurfs colors for the occasion, will be auctioned off after the challenge, with all proceeds going to ANDROID 34 for the Octopus 34 project. "As well as being an ideal means of transport (gentle, eco-friendly, fun and friendly mobility), this buggy is also extremely practical for people with disabilities, PRMs and even senior citizens... Come on, everyone in an electric buggy!
